In a shop setting I totally get that.
Where I'm coming from the dam things just gotta work. The few times somebody other than me is working on my old junk it turns into something similar to how the army operates. We are gonna check every thing off the list, in order, until we get to the most likely cause.
I go round and round with parts guys over the phone all the time.
"You don't really want to pay $80 shipping on a $15 part just to have it tomorrow!!!"
Darn right I do!! I'm gonna loose multiple times that if the machine ain't making dust, smoke, ECT...

 

I like cars, so for many years now have had a car and pickup.
I plan to keep my current car until the day i stop driving. My pickup i replace every 3 or 4 years with a new one. Have tried Chevy, Ford, and even a Toyota. Didn't like them, especially the Toyota tundra, so now I drive a Ram aka Dodge. I tend to abuse my pickup truck some, but this has been a great truck, its just over 2 years old, and I am already certain when I replace it my next one will also be a Ram. Worst pickup ever was my tundra, Toyota brags about their reliability. Well I sure didn't see it, in 3 years that pickup had a huge list of issues. I could add up the problems with 10 other vehicles I've owned, and altogether they would be less than it had alone.

 

I have amassed a huge pile of parts over the years, I likely stock anything we need in the shop now.
