Oh and as for what Earl says about rates...I think he just doesn't want drivers to get angry with him when they end up making $1500 instead of a well hoped for $2500/week.
He told me I could expect to make $1,000/week or maby $1,500 on good weeks. The first load paid the truck almost $1,500. I hope for $1,500 but I know it could reach above $2k on a good week.
On the other hand, I asked if I should get $1.30/mile on a regular basis. They must have misunderstood me, because they acted like that was EASY. I'm talking after all fees and what not, I don't think they were. A load has to pay around $1.68 for the truck to see $1.30. I think the average load is paying, like Earl said, $1.16/mile on average. The loads that are above $1.20 seem like a good deal for long runs; $1.30 for short.
Anyways, best of luck to you! -

Hope everything works out for you. -

I would agree on how much per mile. I'm not going into how much a mile, depends on a persons own situation. Some need more some less. Stir up a hornets nest when trying to decide how much per mile is enough.
