They used to take the bad wrecks to the terminals and park them where you had to see them while you were fuelling. It was to make you think about it and be more careful.
Do they still do that?

Only place I have seen one that was totally wrecked was in Irving TX when the school was still open there!!

Day 7. We went to "Rookie Road" and learned upshifting & downshifting. It took me about 3 minutes to remember what I used to do 12 yrs. ago and then everything went good. I got to get on I-80 and practice driving with some other vehicles and use what I learned on on/off ramps. Did some turns but Tuesday is more about turning. Everybody showed today but an older gentleman that is in my group is starting to question if he wants to drive or not. Tuesday is turns near downtown Salt Lake. Alot of construction there so it's going to be an adventure.

No they dont, because then that truck is no longer making them money. As soon as its in Salt Lake its torn apart & put back together & then they give it to some poor, poor soul.

I was coming through the I-80 truckstop about 3 months ago, and there was a central truck on a wrecker and it looked like it had rolled and had to be cut open to free the driver. People were taking pictures of it.
I have seen a few wrecks at SLC and at Conley. Also at the school in SLC there is a trailer they use for school, and inside it there are all the parts that could be salvaged for a truck that caught fire and burned.
I think they ought to put out a challenge, say they have to reserve $30,000 a month for preventable accidents. Why not say if there are NO preventable accidents in a month they would split that money up with all the drivers.
I found out my old team partner got fired from the first accident he had, he had 3 accidents (all three while I was running teams with him) he took the hood off another truck pulling out of a dock (I was asleep all 3 times) Central finally got the bill for repairs, $15,000. He was in minnesotta, and they deadheaded him back to Conley and told him to clean out his truck. Mind you he had two other accidents since that one, and it took close to 9 months for them to get the bill for the first one.
Once I was in line at a guardshack to check in and another central truck rearended my trailer. Didn't do squat to my trailer but his truck left on a hook.
I have also seen owner ops who have had small accidents (curbed tire, hit a yellow pole, bent bbat wing) Who pay out of their pocket to go to a body shop or tire shop and have work done and never report it to central.
