We’ve worked for two companies, and are planning to move to my wife’s homecountry to start a business within a couple years, and it obviously makes no sense to ship our stuff overseas. We could go local for a couple years, but we figure we save more money otr, and will achieve our financial goals sooner otr.

Our problem is our storage unit is just in a place we lived for 2 years. We don’t have family there and not many friends, so we don’t have a good network there.

If you have family and friends where you are, I wouldn’t even hesitate.

I figured I’d just go OTR one year to get my one year experience with my wife as a passenger, and then move back and go local. Now it’s turned into 2 years OTR , and we’re looking at another 2 years.

There’s too much risk to going local at this point. It would involve moving expenses, buying two cars, insurance, finding a place to rent, etc etc only to turn around and throw it all away again.

Local to me might mean seeing some a-hole boss everyday, and ending up with less free time than otr. My wife, being a foreigner, can’t really expect to make much more than $10 an hour in this country, and we’d hardly see each other. All that just to cover apartment and car expenses. At least otr we can enjoy each other’s company everyday.
