I personally would not want to pull anything other than a skateboard. Each
load is different and has unique challenges of it's own. It's not just pick trailer
1-100 of buttpaper and swing some doors. You actually have to step back and
figure how you are going to secure the load and keep it from coming off the
trailer going 70mph around curves and through moutains.

No wonder Flatbed rates are down...

You should have asked "What would rather do
    a) Back up to a dock and sit?
    b) Strap, chain, Tarp/untarp in the heat, rain, wind, ice, and snow?

I'm sure you'd get a more accurate poll....

Personally I love flats, steps, and double drops. But the rates right now are just pathetic and I started pulling vans. Pulling vans aren't that bad (the grocery warehouses are bad though). I do like the new challenges that the flatbed does bring with every load.

I'm going to say tanker... gas tanker to be more specific. You're home every night, you load yourself, unload yourself, people are actually happy to see you when you show up.

Pay is pretty good. You don't have to wait for some 300 lb. illiterate waste of carbon to decide if he'll load or unload you. That's after he's done with his double quarter pounder w/ cheese and chocolate shake. You get there when you get there. You don't need an appointment only to show up an 1:45 minutes early to be told you can't get there more than 1:30 early and you have to leave.

But, right now I'm pulling a reefer. Choice number 2.

I'd rather pull a reefer. Why? It's what I did when drove before. It's what moves most in the places I live and want to go, and people always gotta eat!

For that I can put up with all the crap that goes with pulling a reefer.

Oh yeah, nothin puts me to sleep faster than the humm of a thermo king drowning out the rest of the noise around me.

How come no one has mentioned "Beer Truck" yet?....

I know for a fact that it would make a lot more people happy than a gas tanker showing up at the drive.... No offense Biscuit....:biggrin_25525:

From the three I have pulled, I would have to say flatbedding is the most satisfying for me. I had less headaches with loading and unloading. I did not have to worry about paying a lumper or wait for a dock door to open and most of the times, I was off loaded almost immediately when I arrived. Sure the weather had it's moments but it was worth it. :biggrin_25526:
