Taking a hit in pride sucks.
If it makes you feel any better when i was yard jockeying last night i forgot to open a set of swing doors. This roll up door stuff got me spoiled. Least someone came out right away to say something. Apologized, then laughed.

Oh man that’s a bummer. I’ve done that once before. I wasn’t in a hurry or tired just made a mistake. I was so mad at myself. Made me double and triple check stuff for a while after that and a lot of second guessing myself. I just had to fill out an incident report. I work for same company as you. I make sure to count to six when breaking the set. 2 air lines and light cord on lead and the same on rear. That seems to ensure no more mistakes.

This is how we all learn the important lessons. Every single professional--even the illustrious @TripleSix, @MACK E-6 or x1Heavy--has learned by OMGI'MSUCHAMORONHOWDIDIDOTHAT moments. It's how the lesson gets drilled into our brains permanently.

I remember the FrankenDolly from my linehaul days. It was half grey and half red--tracked arrow-straight, lights, air, mudflaps, brakes and tires were all A+, totally roadworthy--but it looked so junky no one wanted to steal it. Back before we bought sufficient equipment, that was no small thing..!

I've done similar. There is a company we purchase transportation from that has roll up doors on the back of them. One night a while ago while hostling, there was a move for an empty one of these trailers to be put into the door.

The empty line at this particular hub for the PT trailers is set so that all empty trailers have the doors swung open and roll up doors open as well.

When I went to hook to this trailer, I thought nothing of it when I didn't see any doors on the side of the trailer, and put it in the door. Not long before I dropped the trailer someone poked their head out to ask me to swing the doors open. Doh!

Well, last week was a bit goofy after the Monday having used the 16hr exception. I wish I would have known early in the week that I was going to snag a Saturday run, otherwise I wouldn't have burned 8 hours of personal time. Oh well. My checks will be getting smaller going forward as I increase my 401k and Roth contributions and increase employee stock purchase rate as well.

My bid tractor is back in the shop. It came back from the mechanics in another terminal on Saturday because the A/C was out AND the driver window wouldn't roll down. My first night ever with it on Saturday had ice cold A/C, however the Bendix system would have a coronary after starting the truck and moving 15-20 feet. The little display would throw out all kinds of codes and light up a bunch of lights on the instrument cluster.

Monday night the A/C went out again so I brought it to the hub I am bidded to. They told me this evening that they have parts ordered to replace the entire Bendix/Radar system as well as replace the actual A/C part that is leaking. Mechanic asked if a certain terminal was the one who charged the A/C system and called it fixed, sure enough, spot on with his guess. Back to not having a CB again for a while until I get her back.

3 more weeks until top out!

I don't know how big your last step increase is, but if it's anything like ours is, it's a game-changer. Something like $170 more per week for most road drivers at my place. Do you guys have a gradual progression all the way or is it steep at the end?

For me it’s just over a $3 per hour hourly raise and a .7cpm raise.

I’m in the C pay scale. From what I remember it’s steep at the end.

You mean $0.056 cpm raise? I’d be packing my bags to move up to the northeast if you guys were getting over $1/mile!

Sorry I meant a 7 cent raise to .7006. Don’t know why I went full derp on that.
