We have a ton of Trashhforce trucks that do just fine at work lol. I know they have the rep and lawsuits but we have had outstanding luck with them.

I only drove an automatic once before getting this job. That truck was set up poorly. If you accelerate with a light throttle it would shift at 1100 rpm's and grab the next gear at around 700 rpm's!!!??? Idiocy.

At least Teresi had these Eaton Ultrashifts set up well, shifting at 1500 to grab the next gear at 1100. If you get your foot into it it will wind up to 1800 and seems to "feel" whether you are climbing or not. If it feels that you are climbing it will upshift one gear. If you are accelerating hard on a flat or downhill it will skip a gear.

It funny you say "feel" I know the ones we had have a level sensor in them to tell of they were going up hill. I had two streets on my route that were basically climbing walls so if you were going up them that is the only time it would use 1st and once it went into first it was stuck there and you were doing 5mph with the engine screaming at you to stop. It was fun when they would go bad and the truck would try to upshift every 2.5 seconds going up hill until it would stall lol. Ughhh I'm having PTSD from those things now, I had almost forgot about them lol.

Ive run 5 of them between 2 employers. 1st guy had 2 and needed both of them to keep me running before he got another truck for me to run. 2nd guy had 3. Again I had to run 2 trucks while the 3rd got used for parts.

Both of them went out of business.

In the last year and about 80k mi that Ive ran, this peterbilt getting a clutch is the only repair Ive needed to have done on a truck, barring crappy trailer tires.

Im religious when it comes to maintenance and upkeep. As soon as I felt this clutch get funny, in the shop it went. Its adjusted as far as it can, and the meat on the disc is right at the "done" zone.

I learned to shift a truck driving a 5×4 twinstick with a 2 speed rearend... After that any modern trans is a walk in the park... 9, 10, super 10, 13, Ag 13, 15 under, 15 over, 18... The only diference between shifting any of them is the pattern. But I do prefer 18, 13, and 9 speeds... In that order.
