Yes he purrs like a diesel... His purr almost has a lope to it, like the old mechanical diesels at low idle. It puts me right to sleep.

    No...not really.
Just an all around transmission either one.

    This ^^^^^

But in a minute or two...not days.

I still prefer a 15 most of all. Its the old school in me.
But #### the Mack Mshift automatic is the nicest truck transmission I've ever driven. Give me a Mack Mshift anyday!

    tucker and FlaSwampRat Thank this.

    Hahahahahahahahahaha

13s and 18s are so easy to drive.
You don't need an 18 anyway...no need to split the lower gears.

    FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

18 speeds are one of the most forgiving trans I've ever driven. They are amazing in the mountains... If you know what you are doing you can actually gain speed and upshift while pulling up a steep grade... Where as a 10 speed would fall on its face as soon as you grab the next gear. They also are good for off road operations where you are crawling around with heavy loads... But in reality it is too much trans for your standard OTR operation dragging a freight or produce wagon.

I could have used an 18 speed today, trying to crawl up the 50% grade into the warehouse in the "not-a-real-industrial-park-meant-for-big-trucks" off Fulton Industrial in Atlanta.

A guy came in after me driving a shiny new Volvo. His first attempt spun the tires halfway up. So he backs out in the street, guns it... CRACK goes the front bumper.

I just carefully crawled up in manual 1st.

My truck will be done shortly I believe, just in time for me to finish securing my tarp in 100+ deg heat. Awesome.
