not only are they easier, I think they are more fun to back into a hard spot that all the dry/reefer vans try and try and try to get into, only to get mad when you, BOOM, put it in there in one shot. haha

    wow you get
pay for pre-trip/post and fueling? Interesting, I'm out of High Point and know pay scale is different from terminal to terminal. I've heard Kingsport doesn't get layover pay(10 hour pay on a 34 or waiting to pickup/del over 14 hours). Interesting...

Nah in training I was put up in a hotel. Our tractors are just singles so trainer and i got hotel rooms every night. Nice bed and showers every day lol. Free breakfast. I'm still running nights. Just showed up for a 22:00 local run and dispatch called and said it's pushed out until 0800 which sucks, as I just slept all day. I showed up so I'll get dispatch delay pay, so that's okay but idk if I'll be able to get any more sleep. And then I have to deal with daytime Chicago traffic :/

Yeah I think we have a few extra perks here. My friend who drives out of Westville IN is mostly doing runs out of Chicagoland but doesn't get our pay incentives, which sucks. I just showed up for a 22:00 start and log Ops called 10 mins ago and said it was rescheduled for 0800 so I'll get dispatch delay pay

huh, I spent only about a week and a half in training out of High Point. I had about 5 years under my belt with driving, and trainer only needed to show me about hoses, unloading, paperwork. We did 1 out of town trip and that was ATL and back. He mostly doesn't go out of town with students, though. I know alot of 'pump offloads' they make me drop(if a trainer has a student) at High Point for training on pumping off a load. I, personally, love running nights! You don't need to 'fight for parking' at truckstops during the day(since there are alot of crybabies that won't even drive nights!), and less traffic...plus GREAT radio shows on at night! haha Turns out I need to 'finish a run' for someone. Everything went wrong for this driver, hasn't been on time for any load and it's beyond late, not to mention it was suppose to be a 'steam load'...meaning, they were suppose to go to a certain place and sit for a day and have it steamed. Didn't do that, so now it's steaming at a tankwash near the terminal I'm at and 'hoping' it'll get about 20 degrees hotter in about 10-11 hours and roll 8 hours from there. Kind of surprised me Log Ops called and said, they wanted this driver pulled off of load and want someone with 'experience here' to just go and get the load there ASAP. More miles for me. After all the bad runs I've had, lately(things going wrong beyond my control), it's good to know I'm only being hard on myself for no reason at all! haha

sheesh, I've been sleeping TOO GOOD in my truck lately. Slept 10 hours last night, going 'nite, nite' here for another 8....I know, too much sleep is bad for you....but I guess I'm 'catching up for when I get home and wife and kids start being fussy! haha

so who exactly IS your dispatcher there in Markham? I only deal with Kankakee when I go there....however, if Log Ops sends me a wrong location for tankwash, I usually call Brad and he changes tankwash to right location. But, I usually see the 3rd shift guy. Forget his name but we always end up talking for about 10 minutes while I wait for coffee to brew in the DL, and that mechanic that loves cussing you out(only does it if he knows you). Looks like I rescued a late load for someone last night to Iowa City. Dude, had a 900 mile run from Greer, picked up on saturday morning and only made it to Cincy late yesterday afternoon? I almost made it to P&G in one shot(without 30 minute break), but 2 one lane construction zones and always that one person going 40 in a 55. I did make it there with 5 minutes left on my 8(one time about 3 months back...but everything was perfect...55 straight through construction zones, etc.

Jeff in Kankakee is our dispatcher for Markham. Dan is the night dispatcher, and Mark is in the shop nights. Love Mark. Good dude. I made it from the Hurricane,WV TA to Markham with 3 minutes to spare last night lol. I thought about taking a 30 but I really wanted to get home to my own bed. I stopped for fuel in Chillicothe OH and that was it. (Ran into a Superior IC from Kingsport and chatted a bit). Was late enough that I didn't get slowed too much through the construction zones on 65N. I really need a wash but was too lazy to stop. I usually get one on my Raeford run but not this time. I'm just bumming around the house waiting for 2pm so I can call for my next dispatch. Really hoping I don't run tonight but I have a feeling...I've had a few weekends off (I either run Friday night or Sunday and have a good reset at home). Fingers crossed it's just a drop and hook to Iowa City or something along those lines...

Also, I slept awesome on this past run! I overslept 2 hours at that TA in WV. I slept great on the way down. I was due...

I know, as I've done plenty of times, it's 8 and a half hour ride from Stepan(Elwood) to Charleston terminal. I, SOMETIMES, stay there.....sometimes meaning, that place can REALLY SUCK trying to find parking. It IS a terminal of ours, and we are more than welcome to stay, but the parking there stinks, alot of times! One time there was absolutely NOWHERE to park, so I just parked where you can't and said, 'To heck with it!' and never got bothered. I figured if they come knocking on my door, I'd say, I'm fully in my right to park here and no open spaces. GRRRRRR haha But, never stayed at that TA in WV, I've heard it stinks, laidout stupid. I think I stopped for fuel there like 6 years ago...that was about it. That Pilot on 35 is nice, if you can find parking....if I stay anywhere on 35 it's usually the A&A.....great, old school place!
