Our 100' ladder was an open cab La France. You HAD to wear a seat belt, or risk being bounced out of the seat. Busting your head on the side of the ladder was the first concern. Missing the ladder and falling out was the second. I drove that one several times in the rain, it sucked!! I will have to go back and look for sure, but I believe it was a '72 model. Biggest V-8 detroit that could be put in a truck, allison auto and a rubber block suspension.

Yep. There's the point. You never DID want to do it constantly without a break. No one wants to do that unless they are trying to escape from thinking about something else.

Big day today! 195 miles, 3 loads, and an 1.5 hour nap on the clock. All in 11 hours. The traffic was horrendous too. Had to wait for 10 minutes once for BNSF to override the crossing arm he was stopped short of. Relaxing now drinking a cold one with my baby girl watching Mary Poppins.

Oh yeah. I was really ticked off about it too. 12 hour day minimum. About every third day we ( day shift. Which I was cursed with. Of course. ) would have a two and a half to three hour general quarters drill too, on top of the 12 hour day we had already done.
Try That for 121 straight days and tell me how much you love it. Start before Halloween and finish on January 29th. You can have a day off every 45th day.
    But you can't go anywhere.
    Or see land.
    Hooray !

Crusader66, PoleCrusher, cke and 11 others Thank this.
