While that is a good point, it was in old days with high rise building, or high rises of there day. They could look up and out to find the fire on the way to it. It took many years and death before they put a roof on them. As I said before it's always about the money, the firemen were the cheap part of the equation. Why did school buses still get Dayton wheels intill the early 2000's? MONEY. IH actually changed pricing to get Uni mounts lower, just to get the states to bid it. Why dont school buses have seat belts? It cost money. Then if they buy one, they will have to retrofit the fleet. Your lieing to yourself if you think it's not money.

There is a sign on West 6th street in South Hutch instructing drivers to go to Main street to get to Morton salt, instead of following their GPS. I thought I had a pic of it, but can't seem to find it.

We currently have our retired '69 La France in my station. It's parked next to our 2016 Pierce of ####. I pointed at the "Rocket" and told the other 2 guys,

"That's your Grandpa."

I pointed to the Pierce and said,

"That's what your Grandpa sees when you walk in with a man bun."

 

That was a whopper that just came through
