    The "Rocket". No electronic pressure governors, no preset pump pressures, no computer nonsense to pump it for you. You either knew how to pump this truck, or you didn't.

    We do — live 3 miles from the airport and the fire planes have been coming over the house about every 20 minutes for the last couple days

    This is not the exact truck, but intill late 80's Tiffin still ran a open cab mack pumper like this. Then served as back up pumper. Them men from that time cried when it went out of service. They all could work on it. Claimed it pumped more water, faster than the new trucks. That once at a big downtown building fire at below zero, every truck had froze up, but that mack. They said she would pump till it scattered her guts on the street. They would take it back and put her back together.
