Have you been in the area quite a while? If so we have probably met...….or at least seen each other in the Depot Grill!

Wow!!! It's amazing what the old, worn out stuff can still do compared to the new junk.
As long as the engine, transmission or pump didn't fall out of it, I could make water come out of the old ones. If anything goes wrong with the new stuff, you're done. We're switching back to manual valves instead of air or electronic ones, and getting away from the multiplex computer junk.

In the early 80s I worked for a contractor who had a house and shop a mile South of Curry Crossing on the Northwest corner of the intersection. Gordon Lancaster lived just to the West of him.

You must be close to 74? Used to be a horse trainer/trader thereabouts...…..Wren Haley maybe?

Oh that's pretty right there! The village I was on never had very new stuff, but what we had worked top notch. Always trained with other townships and villages for rural fires. So had a house fire one night about half a mile back a lane with a bridge. Setting up for relay pumping because it was not safe to take tankers over the bridge. I had a 1250 Darley buzzing wide open and getting low on water when they hooked the next villages 2 million dollar truck to it and they guy running it came up asking me questions. He had to draft from portable ponds and relay it. Now I trained with him and told him what to do with his truck. He did not get it. I was kinda busy, had two attack lines in the structure and he's asking how to flow water with his truck. In the end I told him, "dont F up or I'm gonna suck that fancy GD thing right thru this 8". Ended up it all went well. But that pile of junk Pierce I never seen it pull water from a lake or pond in a timely manner with all the fancy sheet on it.

I know guys who are still driving who drove for Roadway in the 90s and they drove 8.5 hours. Or at least that’s what they tell me. One went on to UPS and the other quit when Roadway got in trouble.
