drivers rights?

You can think previous generations of drivers that would run 20 hours a day on 2-3 log books and speed.

 

Why were you tested?

A number of reasons. If any vehicle got towed is one, if I remember right. The fmcsa has a little qualifier chart explaining it, it is in your fmcsa regulation hand book that you are supposed to have.

But that said, you are a professional driver when you hold that cdl and if you used drugs the day before, then get into an accident, you know the rules and should know better.

 

Truck Driver:
- is aware pre-employment testing is required
- is aware they can be randomly tested at any time
- is aware they can be tested after an accident depending on what happens
- takes truck driving job
- gets in accident

Truck Driver “I wasn’t at fault. I shouldn’t have been tested. These rules need to change.”

You knew the rules when you decided to play the game.

You're guilty until proven innocent, it's one of the reasons I got out. I feel your frustration, it never used to be that way. And 4 wheelers aren't going to be tested, they don't pose a risk like a semi does. You want to drive a truck today, and all the shenanigans that go along with it, have at it. I'm proud of my millions of safe miles, regardless how I got them. A few bad apples ruined it for everybody. Somebody runs into you, and you're the bad guy. They can cram this industry with walnuts.

 

yes they sure did!! but did you see the catastrophic accidents that you have seen in the last couple of years almost every GD day every time you F'IN turn around!!

as to the original poster question..
that's the way things go.. if you have nothing to be afraid of you shouldn't have to worry it's a lousy deal but that's the way it is..
if not stop driving a truck and go flip burgers

 

Rule #1 about being a trucker. You are automatically considered to be at fault. This is why more companies are getting dash cams (even cab cams). They are for your protection. When a accident happens, the cams will show what had transpired. The bulk of the time it will be the 4 wheeler whom drove poorly. Yet with out the cam it is only the value of the paper and your ability to articulate the facts

 

There was probably about 1/3 of the traffic volume or less back then. Plus with social media, dash cameras, and phones we hear about practically every wreck that happens now.
