drivers rights?

  1. throwing improper training and Craigslist Cowboys too..
but again we ran 2 and 3 logbooks back then we didn't have the kind of catastrophic accidents you see nowadays an unbelievable numbers did we?? no
when you have to deal with what is out here nowadays if the feds made these people learn the proper way and there were no Craigslist Cowboys under-the-table bribes you wouldn't see half of the wrecks you see now...
how the F in God's name can somebody with 6 months be allowed to train that's like the blind leading the blind around you wonder why the industry so effed up??
So that commenter with a z in his name I'm interested to know his answer there was mainly directed towards him. .
I do not deny the fact that people drove 20 hours a day not everybody drove on speed after mandatory drug testing so that young'un is wrong right there..
the bottom line the professional driver generation that started prior to 1995 it's still the safest and the records and stats show it.

Ok, you sound a bit stressed. That was always the joke, "if you don't like it, go flip burgers", well, I'll tell you, with all the BS you drivers put up with today, flipping burgers doesn't sound so bad, and I don't think things were all that much safer years ago, stuff still happened, it's just today, this wonderful machine brings all of them to our kitchen table.

I’m not disagreeing with training, etc. But it’s pretty simple to understand that with way less trucks and way less cars on the road there were way less “catastrophic” accidents as you call them. Pile ups were less common because you didn’t have two or more lanes of traffic running bumper to bumper doing the speed limit. When accidents did happen they were usually limited to a single vehicle.

  5. but you also had a lot better training.. if you went to go get a CDL and you didn't pass the test you didn't pass the test..
until about 1995 what Former Governor George Ryan of Illinois started accepting license for bribes and it all went downhill from there...
25 years later look where we are now the whole industry in the toilet..but we all know what would happen if we force people to take a real test and pass that test there would be a driver shortage like never before...

Good. Now everyone involved in your accident...cops, insurance companies, and your boss...know that for sure.
    Getting tested protects you.
Quit whining about something that actually works in your favor.

Social media has become the driving force in advertising everything and with cameras being in every cellphone everyone is quick to whip it out for their chance at internet fame and viral videos.

Read the comment sections on how everyone has to have a say in it like their apart of the action. From politics to tide pod challenges to those microwaving cellphones thinking itll recharge them or dry them out after they got wet.

We as a society have problems. One being lack of self control, the other being a lack of common sense.

Training? My training was teaching myself how to drive an old cabover when I was a junior in high school. When I turned 18 and took my tests the lady that gave me my driving test worked in the office of the farmer I was going to work for.

It’s easy to look back and think about how good things seemed. We humans do that with a lot of things. Ever been in a relationship and when you break up you only remember and think about the good times? It’s a little like that.

I’m not sure if it was for all accidents including trucks or if it’s just automobile accidents but I found a chart on Wikipedia that shows deaths as a result of a vehicle accident rates per 100000 people are relatively unchanged (ranging from 15 down to around 11 now) since 1990. More people, more traffic, more accidents. Simple.

YES you have fewer rights than the people who drive cars because you are driving 25 cars at one time. You work 70 hours a week and the company never heard of drivers overtime. If you make a mistake you can go to jail .And if I could make this money and be home every night I would.

  10. that's good nice to know many people were that way yes indeed I didn't grow up on the farm in the sticks in the boonies..
I grew up in suburban Chicago I just had the love of travel I'm proud of the training school that I went to a 1989 and it almost 3 million miles accident ticket free less than half a year away if nothing goes wrong hope I don't jinx myself is a proud achievement knowing that I was taught the proper way and I still drive that way..

    I concur.

My only altercation came about 8 years ago.
I was just tooling along northbound, approaching an intersection with a green light when a 4 wheeler blew the red light to my left.. slammed another 4 wheeler going south... crossed all the traffic and was barreling towards me.
It all went down in 2 seconds and I had nowhere to go.
I was able to crowd to the right to avoid a head on, but they went under my tandems.

    Car destroyed.
    Tandems sitting at 45°
    2 cars towed
1 person (pilled up driver) in the ambulance.
    Dash cam showed everything.
    No citation.

I went straight to terminal and volunteered to go pee.
    They said it wasn't necessary.
I would have thpught for sure I'd have had to go... but nope.
