My guess would be to check the Safety & Security area and open the Comprehensive Safety Analysis. Follow items listed and you will be fine.

5Mouths,
I have read all the posts, I think Bullhaulerswife is correct, it is the "New Entrant" audit. Rick this audit is required and needs to occur within the first 18 months. I see alot of carriers that do not get this completed and somehow, someway, their DOT # is moved to a "INACTIVE" status. From what I have seen, this occurs after the motor carrier fails to meet with the auditors. It is all paperwork related. This gets you up to speed with everything that is expected of you as the carrier. Trust me, pay attention and ask questions to ensure you are doing it right. If your State MCSAP or FMCSA come in and do a Compliance Review (CR) you want to make sure you are doing everything correct. The fines that result from CR's can be large amounts of $$$$$$. I assited FMCSA on one a few years back, over $50,000 in fines. To say the least, the company is no longer around.
You are correct, logs are exempt from a MC number, as most items that come from mother nature and have not been changed by man. For example, logs are exempt, but once they are made into say cabinets you need a MC #.7mouths2feed Thanks this. -
Thanks for typing out such a long list, I had a hard time finding what to expect for the safety audit but you cleared it up.

How do i go about obtaining the applications/files/forms/maintenance forms and such so i can start preparing for the audit?

Bullhaulerswife,
This is a very intresting list. I am driving for a New Company that hasn't gone thru the inital aduit yet. I plan to show this to the boss man tommorw, neither of us had any idea what would be included.
Thanks again,

You can get all of that stuff from FMCSA for free. They even have a check list for you of what must be in the file. I down loaded the whole book plus one from my state DOT that explains the Compliance Audit for new entrants.
-
I know, but when I did mine it was easier to just order the packs. It comes with everything in order to stay in compliance. It included a very good application as well.

JJ Keller basically just took the stuff from FMCSA and added a few tweaks to it. I'll pay to get the entire book printed out at Staples plus a couple of others, but I can print my own copies of the forms I need as I need them. I don't like to spend money that I don't need to. I found everything we will need once we are able to get Nik into his own truck from FMCSA and the state DOT and DMV. Took a bit of poking around to find it, but not much.

I was doing mine from the road. Not easy to do and still get the packs in an easy format for the 3 drivers I hired.
I remembered using them when I was the DOT guy at a company with 100 or so drivers so, I just called them up and got it mailed to the house. When I got home it was all there and I just handed packs to each guy.
