i read something that DPF systems might be done away with

I'm no scientist but my nose is pretty sensitive. Before all this alphabet soup BS they started putting on trucks, (EGR, DPF, DEF, DOC, SCR), you could walk around most truckstops and still breathe. Nowadays, if there's a truck nearby doing a regen, it feels like someone is sitting on my chest and my eyes start watering. Just one of the reasons I (mostly) park in rest areas, now. Not as many trucks and slightly better airflow.
The commentor with the bird story is spot on, IMO. There may be fewer carbon emissions with after treatments, but all the other crap coming out isn't any better.

 

That’s a lie. Before DPF and DEF the lots still smelled like pee and you know it. Lol

 

It's all garbage

The carbon footprint to produce def, ship it, the containers people leave around everywhere, burning MORE fuel to do regens, burning MORE fuel to make clean exhaust. Refining more fuel for the higher demand of today's emission trucks. Also the carbon footprint to dig into the ground for the precious metals inside all the emissions crap.

Then you burn off the DPF, then you clean it in your driveway like a hillbilly with a pressure washer and detergent and all that crap runs down stream.

All I'm trying to say is, it's a cash grab. And I dont have factual numbers to back it up but I firmly believe......... ITS A WASH !!

Then the people who sing emission control devices' praises will fire up their 2 stroke weed whackers, old ####ty lawnmowers, dirt bikes whatever and think nothing of it.

 

Anyone else remember birds at truckstops Or brake check areas rummaging around overfilled garbage bins.. now I’m trying to remember the last one I saw .. every year we used to have Canadian geese running around the yard but it’s been years since I’ve seen them.. maybe they moved or there’s some truth to the scr theory about birds

what truck stop counters.

i have intensively studied geopolitics and warfare since that whole trade center thing back when i was enlisted and thought id die overseas. But hey im an amateur and youre clearly a pro. Whats your take? Is california just a really powerful state of bumbling idiots? Or are they masterful conquerers? I dont see bumbling idiots dominating their neighbors too often in real life.

 

The irony is amazing isn't it? I could come up with a few other goofy issues pushed by the government and other sectors of people, who turn around and do the complete opposite in their free time, and never think twice about it. It's a joke.

My own farts dont bother *me* but the wife acts as though I've just released a dead skunk in the truck. Totally overreacts every time....

 

If she accidentally lets a little one go act as if you can’t breathe smelly or not.. That seems to do the trick
