October Guy, my original question was whether or not hometime was a full 3 days as the recruiter told me or is it arriving home on the 1st day and leaving on the 3rd day leaving you with only 1 full day at home? I am in the area where TMC says I will get 46 out of 52 weekends. Their weekend I have been told really is only a 34 hour stop over. I know I will have to run to make a paycheck, but I also need to prepare the wife for what we will be in for.
want to talk to drivers about roehl

i dunno how rohl work but your fleetmanger n dispacher will make u brake ya the planners usually give certin loads to certin boards or fleets depending on where the truck is n ect...... for example my last dispatcher (witch was also the fm and the termanal manger) was great i got 3000 every week he left i got a new fm always i spent more time waiting for that lil blue box to beep than anything so from my exp planners really dont make that much diif get on your fm bad side n ur done
MY 2 CENTS -
It was always a full 72 hours for me when I worked there for home time. Sometimes I got an extra day if no freight to get me back out again. I was national van and almost always went home empty. Hope this helps.

I am on the 7/4-7/3 hometime. You have three drivers who share two trucks so learning how to move in and out of your truck is very helpful. The schedule is set up that your "launch" days are Saturday and Wednesday. You should get home on Tuesdays and Fridays. I got home this last Friday and I am scheduled to leave on Wednesday. I should then get home on Tuesday and be home until Saturday. The rub comes when you get home late such as on Wednesday instead. Some drivers go ahead and leave on their next regular launch day. In my case I have made it very clear to my dsr that I came to Roehl for the guaranteed home time and I expect three or four real days at home as I was promised to get me to come to Roehl. I have one dsr that tends to grouse about it, but my driving record helps me to get my way.

Ladies and Gentlemen let me extend my apologies for posting on this forum as I apparently don't have enough experience to have developed an opinion yet. Clearly my experiences have been illusory, had I known I would have consulted my physician prior to wasting everyone's time. Clearly my youthful exuberance (I'm only 53) has gotten the best of me. And as I have no real world experience as of yet, save for the 31 years I worked following college graduation, I beg your tolerance. Someday I hope to ascend to the lofty heights achieved by our dear friend Nate.
I sincerely hope that Nate will accept this most heartfelt apology as I had no idea he was the arbiter of all things Roehl. Such a heavy mantle it must be, and he wears it so well - nary a hint of arrogance or condescension. With any luck Nate will provide me, and any others whom he deems inexperienced or unworthy, his email so that we may forward any future postings to him for his editing and approval. I trust he will provide this service to us all with his obvious good humor and attention to accuracy.
Good luck and safe driving to all, especially to Nate.

Thank you, October Guy, Now im going to finish putting on my lip stick.

Interesting conversation you've been having while I've been working. I object to the "anyone who isn't doing well is a whiner" line, too, but I don't think whining about it is the right response.

I'm pleased to hear what you have to say about Roehl as it is one of the companies that I am considering to work for. I appreciate the value of a "new with the company" point of view.

Dang, that is about the most well written post I have ever read! Kudo's on that much OG.
[scratching head] Nates response = lol. :smt064October Guy Thanks this. -
Dennis,
I'm really going out on a limb here and risking another smackdown as I haven't received approval from Nate to post my opinion. However, I feel like living dangerously tonight...
I LIKE ROEHL!! That's my OPINION (Nate check the definition of opinion if you're not familiar). I think you could do worse than choosing Roehl as your first trucking company. They've treated me fairly, I get along with my FM, I have good equipment, I get home when I want to, I'm getting (what I consider to be) adequate miles. I have no material complaints. That said, things can always be better... but they could certainly be worse as well.
The biggest factor to your success here or at any other company in or out of trucking is your own attitude and willingness to work. Try this on for a bit of backyard philosophy.

I can't wait for Nate to refute this.
Best Regards and Remember to Drive to Protect Others,
O. G.DsquareD Thanks this.
