Them old boys could make some of us look like were standing still in today's world.

I tell you what amazed me was Dad could learn a drivers habits in a short time. It amazed me how if one broke down and its piece was 3 days out he could find it, find another one of our trucks going through there to drop it off etc. All in time way before cell phones, he knew who to trust and not to trust between here and there.

There was always a notebook and pen by kitchen phone, dont dare move his notebook and pen lol. When one would call with trouble he'd say gimme your number I'll call you right back with the plan lol.

I'll bet the loads, even after a breakdown were never late either.

I was one of the younger fellas when I first leased on. The old boys let me know in no uncertain terms that I had better not f up their reputation of always delivering on time. Only acceptable excuse was if the highway closed in the winter. Short of that you be there when promised.

Not yet. Got rid of the trailer to one of the other drivers. Going to let the hook drag me back to the plant where I might be able to get it in one of the bays in the shop. But it might take til morning for that to happen. Nothing here happens fast or cheap.
