I actually got the same dot with his portable scales twice, of coarse he got me plenty to.lol
Another time he came and parked by the gate at the asphalt plant, which was broke down at the time. I left first and empty, he set his portables up and had ne get on them, then ask why I didn't tell him I was empty. lol Again, you didn't ask. lol The other trucks left while he was messing with me. lol

Had lots of good DOT's (only one not so good, really). The most fun was one time I was training a new driver for the route, and got pulled into the Boise scale for a permit check. Turns out you need a separate Idaho permit to go over 80K, even if you are registered for more. It was like my third load at extended weight, and I THOUGHT we had all the right paperwork... Trainee lady was trembling, thinking they were going to slap us in chains. Little old DOT lady says "that's a $64 permit, would you like to buy one?". You've never seen $64 come out of my pocket so fast... Next stop the WA scale coming in westbound on 82. Level 3. I get to chatting with the guy asked him "why us", and his answer is "needed one more truck before 10 pm". Anyway, we're chatting about the other guys hauling live fish, and their trucks, and their schedules, and hands me my paperwork and a clean inspection report.
Trainee standing there all the time, mouth half open, wondering what just happened. Had to explain to her that DOT are people, too, and if you make their job easier and more enjoyable, they'll make your job easier and more enjoyable.Truckermania and booley Thank this. -
I bobtailed out of Alaska to NM once, I just had Alaska tags and when I got to boise scales justtook the bypass lane, but coming out was pulled in and they said I had to have a permit just to bobtail, so I said I reckon I will buy one. In Alaska when you register a truck, it is only for the actual empty weight of the tractor. The trailer you pull dictates what you can legally gross. He looks at my registration and said this will not do, he could not sell me a permit for the tractor weight. lol I told him I didn't want one any way, after a while he just told me to leave. lol

I take it back. I was hammer down around the bend yesterday morning on mission impossible and there he was, a tennessee full grown, just he and i. Flipped on the blues to say "slow down dipshet" then flipped em back off and let me live.

I was taking my Step Daughter to her Friend's House in a Quad Axle T880 Coal Bucket. Well, on the way to go and pick her up, DOT got me along with PA Full Grown. So, they got me for having 15% Tint and the Strip on my Windshield. This was on a Sunday.
Officer: Why do you feel the need to have Tint this Dark?
Me: I like Road Head sometimes...
Officer: You really going to say that on a Sunday? (Laughing)
Me: Ummmmm, I'll say that any Day.
That got me a Warning Ticket and "Go pick up your Daughter Driver."booley Thanks this. -
I was hauling a load of junk iron once and a piece of tin flew off (low speed) and hit a dot car rightdead center of the bumper. lol. I lucked out, I knew him, plus he was riding around drinking beer, couldn't say a whole lot. lol
I was headed to Elpaso with a terrible load of crushed cars, crushed by a weight on a crane, not a car crusher, It was as ugly a load as you could get, to wide, hung way to far over the back, so I went on a sunday night. I got to Santa Rosa about midnight and a dot pulled me over, he mentioned my overhang, I told him if he wanted to get technical, it was probably a little over. He wanted to measure it so we started walking bak, a piece of chrome trim had slipped out and stuck him in the face., he then mentioned I was too wide too, again I said probably if you want to get technical. lol When we got to the back and his lights were shining on me, he ask if he didn't know me, and I told him he did. I knew him from when they came had the big inspections at the port of entry, so he ask why I was out here hauling this junk. I ask if he wanted the truth, and told him he was supose tobe in bed and I had planned to be in El Paso when he got up. lol
He told me to get out of there and if I got stopped don't mention he had stopped me. lolbooley Thanks this. -

I had just started with a new company on my first solo run an I got pulled into the scale house an because it was a tank I had to sit an let the product settle. So they finally came back on the intercom and told me I was 1k over on my drive axles so I pulled around back an the officer came out to me an told me that he was training a new guy on the scales and to just slide my 5th wheel all the way forward an I'll be alright. An sure enough I pulled back on the scale and didn't even let the product settle they let me go.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this.
