    Yep. No rocket scientist there.
    I agree with Trucker Mike, alcohol is just as bad a problem, but in different form. Faced with the two applicants, I'd not hire either. My experience with drinkers depends on wether or not they're social or regular. Regular usually means screwup, sooner or later. As far as using on the job? Not only do we have a no tolerance policy, you might just get accidentally kicked down the stairs on your way out.
    My jobsite isn't party central and our tools are sharp, heavy, and dangerous.
    And so am I.

    I failed a pre-hire drug test 30 days after I stopped using legally perscribed THC. (I live in CA) I still have the perscription but I haven't filled it since May, 2009 nor do I intend to so that I can pass the drug test at another company and drive under DOT regulations. Is the fact that the THC was legally perscribed a reasonable exception to the regulation?

    I don't see why it would be. The drug requirements are federal while the "legally prescribed" is a CA thing.

    It might persuade an employer, but I would be wondering why you had the prescription to start with. From the FAQ page under prescriber responsibilities: "As a result of the medical examination, document in the patient's medical record that the patient has a serious medical condition and that the medical use of marijuana is appropriate."

    You had a medical condition serious enough that other medicines couldn't treat it, are you going to be safe driving my truck? But I'm not in charge of hiring so...

    Edit: You do realize that the previous failed drug test will be reported to the new company, right?

    Thanks. Perscribed for depression but I was misdiagnosed. Eventually my T3 tests indicated that I have low thyroid condition. I'm now taking Nature Throid (Another organic treatment) and the symptoms for depression have disappeared. Thanks for your prompt reply.

    I just received a copy of my DAC report sent by the Company where I will begin orientation. Here is what the report states;

    DAC REF# 9DB WWFR3YNONE 197 305

    And that's it. I have no idea what the codes mean.

    Prescribed or not, it's still a narcotic.

    You can't take vicodin, percocet, etc. I'm not sure why marijuanna would be an exception... I doubt that it would be. You'll likely need a note from the prescribing doctor stating that you're no longer in need of such medication, and that you are safe/functional without it.

    If you can manage that, you might have a chance.
