Normally when you apply at a new carrier they will contact your current employer to verify your current status as an employee. Technically all they are supposed to disclose is whether you are in fact employed there and how long you have been there.

The cat is going to be out of the bag as soon as you apply somewhere else. This may work to your advantage by getting your bosses attention though. If you are a valuable member of the team your boss "may" be willing to offer you more money to stay, a better truck, more home time, or a better route.

Normally a carrier will not list any accidents/incidents on your DAC report until you either quit or are dismissed.

I believe you can request the company you are applying at not to contact your current employer. This seems very standard to me.

But if he did that, then the company he is applying to might wounder why he doesn't want them to contact his employer it is a catch 22 situation.

Maybe. But companies also realize that prospective new employees are concerned about jeopardizing their current jobs by such phone calls.

Well, I hate to admit this but I'm kind of an idiot. I was so concerned with my current employer finding out I was looking around via the DAC report and completely forgot the fact that any place I apply at would want to talk to my current employer especially considering it's the only place I've drove truck for.:biggrin_25515:

Scratch that idea for now. Not worth irritating my current employer if it didn't work out.

    Thanks all...

Anyone that has read DAC reports may be able to answer this.

I have only worked for 2 companies, and only one reported to DAC. My question is under ELIGIBLE FOR REHIRE: Review required before re-hiring.

Is that bad? not sure if they write whatever they want, or if thats standard.

    WORK RECORD: Satisfactory

Again, not sure when a company submits info, if they have a standard form, or if they put whatever they want.

Just wondering how potential employers would look at that.

    Any help? Thanks in advance.

I think "satifactory" on work record is normal. What you don't want on your DAC is abandonment, tickets, accidents, quit under load etc.

DAC stinks!!! If you ever get an inaccurate info on there it is just a ridiculous process to gfet it off. It's very easy to get marks against you on your DAC but not easy to get it corrected. Some companies are very shady with their DAC reporting. Aside from that, it doesnt sound like your company put anything that is going to cause you problems.

FYI, it took me a while, but now the division of USIS that handles the DAC reports is called HireRight. Just google it and then follow the above instructions..I just did it. Hopefully it will be here in a week or so
