Came after the 5ek motor. Not a bad engine most of those used the 58 injectors. Can make some power if done right. Just don't go to crazy or you can split the block at the oil rail.

Is that ledge flat or smooth on the reverse side? There is a fix that could be done in the field.

Fab a strap that spans both hole locations, the strap would be threaded. Clean and glue the broken piece to the strap and glue the entire strap to the boss with devcon (JB weld)

The strap would carry the stress and the broken piece would simply be in compression. These are the kind of things I deal with on rebuilding machinery.

Hate to hear that the shoots are out already but leave the rusty nail in place for at least a month. It's got a job to do, so don't rush it.
If you need to rush something then rush yourself to Arkansaw and get to digging.

Cat actually has an official repair procedure for this. I wouldn't have known about it if it weren't for @wore out and his connections.

I'm going to get it home and deal with it there.
