An old timer said I would have an accident within 10 years. Everyone has some sort of accident. I said no-e not me thinking he meant auto accident and not accident on the way to a rest stop after downing some Texas hot chili with beans added...
Well on my 9th year I had an accident. My fault 100%. I was briefly distracted by a softball size object that left a nasty crack in my windshield while approaching a light that had just turned yellow. The truck , Ahem, Pick up in front 0f me stopped and I did not stop in time.
I bent his bumper and slightly bent one of his rear panels. he claimed 11.5k
His tow hook took out my radiator and destroyed my bumper. My estimate was for 5.7k
The company I contract with told me that my deductible for damage to my truck was 1k
The company I contract with said my deductible for damage to his pickup was 9k
I've been there almost 2 years.
A) They asked me if I would want to put my repairs on a repayment plan with freightliner and use my assets with the company, escrow, fuel tax escrow and loads that had been paid yet to repair the other guys vehicle.
B) They said I might not have a job with them when this is over. They said I may not have a job but with out one how they expect me to pay any outstanding bills on my deductible. ?
C) They told me not to talk to the repair people and let them handle it.
The owner of the truck who I am purchasing it from ( a 30 year vet ) said something does not add up.
I'm worried about all this sitting not knowing that if my truck is repaired ill just be out of a job.
I've started looking and have a few job offers lined up. I've paid a total of 200 a week for all the insurances they said I had to have and it seems it was for nothing.
Insurance Question regarding accident.

you should have gotten a lawyer, as soon as you could have after that accident. -
I think you need to get directly in touch with the actual insurance company that insures you and your truck. The one who they pay and then deduct from your settlement.
This whole they said this, they said that crap doesn’t mean anything. Talk to who is in charge of the incident at the insurance company and find out what’s really going on. Get a copy of the policy.
The questions and wondering is driving you crazy so gotta take charge and figure it out. -
I suppose a 9000 deductable is possible, but my insurance co's always offered it to me in round numbers, 1000, 5000,10,000 etc. never have they offered 9,000, nor would I think to ask for it, so that seems weird, but may be legit. I generally just went for the 5,000 option.
It sounds like you insure through the outfit you are leased to, and they have a high deductible to keep insurance prices as low s possible. -
And that's a huge red flag for me.

What state did this happen in?

I’m watching this one. Sounds fishy as hell to me. I would talk directly to the insurance company, not the carrier. You may very well contact a lawyer to cover your rear end. And get out of there pronto. You need a new carrier to lease up with!!!
I know a carrier i was leased up with had a $5k deductible, but that was for your truck or another carrier asset...no deductible for damage caused.
From the numbers you’ve thrown out, you may just be better off to pay for the pick up out of pocket & cover your own truck expenses. Collect all your escrow money & run for the hills -

9k deductible for his vehicle? Something is definitely wrong in this picture. The only deductible I pay is for my truck and it’s 1k “if” it was my fault and “0” deductible to pay to get the other party vehicle fix. My agent takes care of me. Been with her forever. Goodluck hand.
