Fact's are simple. There truck, There fuel, There rules. If you don't like it work some where else. Some of them charge you if you go over a set amount. Others set the truck so it won't idle unless it's x deg cold or hot. Or Buy your own truck and you can pay $300+ every time you fuel up and then idle when it's 50 deg. Having been an O/O I can tell you. When you pay to idle and your profit is going out the exhaust pipe. You learn to shut that thing off.

Im currently at, Parked fuel 36 gals, idle fuel 38 gals. My idle is 46.22% Miles in 7 days 3,360, amout of fuel used 545 gals. MPG 6.2
Cummins engine, 425 HP, 10 speed... And heavy loads. Just to give you and idea of the info you can get. Now 38 Gals of fuel wasted on my so called comfort and health at 46.22% idle figure at $2.10 a gal it cost my company $79.00 to maintain a standard of living and wellness. This is why any company back charging a driver needs to be put out of business! Now you will get dumb drivers who will ruin the standard of driving for others and worry about the comapnies profit. But remember do office employees do with out? Do they sit with candles and electric blankets? Blocks of dry ice?
If you keep supporting these bottom feeder comapnies who lowball freight rates, go drive a trash truck and g home every day and leave the over the road driving to Drivers who know better!dancnoone, Baack and truckermario Thank this. -
I couldn't agree with you more. I would bet that the office thermostat is set at a cool 72 degrees. 24/7 365 days a year.

just pull the dam link fuse between sensortraacks and truck not qcom and truck and idle percentage is your decision they cant charge what they cant see im at 3% all summer ur chance to give bak the love they show....

Then explain the low fuel mileage . What about the hour meter ? You'll get caught and terminated with a negative DAC

It's not industry wide . Mostly with the bottom feeder companies that hire students . My carrier doesn't restrict idling . Most of our drivers get home for the restart . We have a driver that is going to have to layover in AL this weekend . He could idle most of the weekend but our terminal manager gave him the option of getting a hotel room at company expense . They have paid for hotel rooms for me . They call ahead and make reservations and payment arrangements . Nothing comes out of the driver's pocket .
The restricted idling times is one of many eye openers those with an "any job is better than no job " attitude discover after being hired . Many carriers resort to hiring students because experienced drivers know better than to go to work for them .longbedGTs Thanks this. -
I was charged for a tire one time. I took the new one home with pay stub as receipt and sold it back to them. If I get charged for fuel you better believe I'll get my money back.

That's YOUR choice to have been O/O. You chose how much you ran, you chose your own loads, and you were your own boss. These companies don't want a driver to idle then they shouldn't leave them sitting when they have hours available. The companies also have the ability to find other means to get around the cost of idling (hotel deals, and Idle Air come to mind) where they can get special rates for multiple uses. It's funny how many old timers talk about their glory days, but if you sit back and listen I don't see anything great about the old times when you bbq'd in the summer and flash froze in the winter.
