New Operating Authority, finding loads

I'm still waiting on FMCSA to approve my Authority. I was looking for folks that would deal with new Authorities. Looked at BNSF, they require 6 months it looks like. Landstar looked promising, but when I input my DOT number in both BNSF and Landstar to pre approve, it shows me this-

• Operating Status is not ACTIVE, AUTHORIZED or AUTHORIZED FOR: Property, HHG.

I understand my status isn't active, I'm still waiting for FMCSA and I'm only 11 business days in. BUT surely I don't need to have a property House Hold Goods Authority to move freight. Right?

I have the 100k 1 mil insurance, is that why this is popping up? Because that's the insurance mins for HHG and thats what they want for a min ins? I'm not a moving company. It also appears that while I'm waiting for authority I can't even run Intrastate? I'm in Texas and completely legal to run in Texas. But when I tried intrastate with Landstar so I can start generating some cashflow it flagged it and said nope, you're DOT number is interstate and you don't have approved authority yet. I already started my insurance to get the apportioned plates and inspection. Any experience on this would be appreciated.

 

1099. Appreciate your time. I thought I could run intrastate until the FMCSA approved me. And even though I’m legal to run intrastate, I think most brokers/ shippers will see “interstate” and “not active” next to each other and not take the time to worry about seeing Im good in Texas for now. I don’t plan on doing HHG. It’s not part of my original authority filing. I can change it for free before the FMCSA approves me. If I change it after they approve me it could cost another 300. But I’m not packing and unpacking houses. Nope. Never. I don’t understand why it’s even popping up.

 

I posted my insurance info and rates here OOIDA- INSURANCE any hotshot drivers using them?. I paid the 6 month, other than the truck payment everything I have invested in this venture is paid for. I did insurance last. But insurance doesn’t stop. And I’m parked waiting on authority. I did the drug test and signed up for the consortium. The small town chiropractor that does dot physicals handles it all. I’m still not understanding the HHG authority in BNSF and Landstar. So I sit here and study. I’m obsessed. Reading the rule book. On and on. Ha. I may park my old jeep up on the trailer and practice tarping.

 

Good morning. Mickeyrat, Yes i understand. I’m still waiting on FMCSA. I didn’t apply for HHG. Im just surprised Landstar and BNSF mentioned it as part of an operating authority. I didn’t relapse either of them employ moving companies or post loads where you’d have to pack and unpack someone’s house. I’m thinking it’s just to see the min 100k cargo which FMCSA doesn’t seem to post unless you need it. So a quick call should fix that. Johnnyman, what loadboards take a month to get set up? That’s bananas. And yes I have autos on the OA plus the class 9 non bulk

 

Dang. I don’t think it took me that long to enlist and get a clearance!!! Haha
