Just in case, no I was not. It is $25 just for the market, not talking about highway or bridge tolls. -
Stevens makes you call for a safety routing talk before you go in there. They give you step by step instructions on driving in there. They keep repeating things like, "we want to keep the roof on the trailer". I loved the part about the "Biggest buttonhook you willk ever do in your life". I think it was too. My trainer sat in the jumpseat and talked me all the way in as well. What fun. Rolling through LA right now on the way back to TX.

Make sure your school actually teaches you to drive. We worked a few days at school with a bunch of people from other schools going through orientation 1, and half of them couldn't control the truck and trailer on the shifting track. Didn't know to watch the tandems through a turn so they didn't know they had killed a bunch of barrels.
Butterdog Thanks this. -
I am a current trainer for stevens transport.. Alot of things said in the previous statments are true but others you are being misled. Yes you do make 350 a week till you go solo. Its rough but everyone has to start somewhere I did it and alot of other stevens drivers also did it.. You can easily make it do to money managment. The "dumb and Dumber" phase has been phased out. What will happen is when you arrive at Stevens you will attend 3 days orientation. Then you go out with a trainer for 5weeks. Come back for orientation 2 for another 4 days and from there you will be going out with a Finish trainer for 3 weeks when you come back you will be given your own truck WITH JAKES but no cruise for 90 days. Other then that Stevens has great oppertunitys for you and to them you are just not another number.. I would strongly recommend it. I believe they have the best training available. But its a choice you will have to make. But I wanted to clearify the errors in other's statements.
revslev Thanks this. -
Nice post fozzy, just a little FYI when going into NYC they have a phone number you can call and they will give you directions, and these are city gov. directions, so all should be good with them.
