Does anyone know how to get a hunter's permit for driving around visiting carriers in the process of job hunting? The truck is living in Missouri currently......Also need info on temporary insurance. Thanks!

What state do you reside in, and what state is the truck titled in? Most states issue hunter's permits for residents while they are searching for a new carrier, some will issue for any truck regardless of the owner's residency.

The folks at WCS Permits may be able to help you get a hunter's permit for Missouri. They have been very helpful to me in the past, good people, especially at the Ohio office. Oversize & Overweight Load Permit - WCS Permits & Pilot Cars

As for temporary insurance, who was covering your insurance before for non-trucking liability? Perhaps they can issue a temporary policy. If all else fails, give these folks a call. I know nothing about them, but they may be able to help. Short Term Truck Insurance

contact the state and ask, not every state does this.

Some states the temp allows you to haul too.

NJ is only a hunter's permit....

Thanks very much for the information! One good thing is WCS has an office in LA which will be open later and maybe i can get this taken care of today. I am waiting for my certificate of temporary insurance but the insurance company's email provider is having problems so it may even be tomorrow until I can get it. When I do though I will get in touch with WCS.
The insurance company you sent is way more expensive than the one I decided to go with, which was Classic Truck Insurance, in case anyone else is looking. They are really nice, too. They just need a different email provider! Anyway, thanks again for the information.
