I just left Shaffer 3 months ago. First off, 2300 miles a week is not decent. Secondly, he lied to you. Shaffer is a dying company. Their micromanaging has run off most of the good drivers, and they are bleeding customers like mad because their service is not good enough to demand the rates they want. I still have 2 friends over there. The sit all the time waiting on freight, yet they still hire more drivers. My last 3 weeks I had 1850, 1346, 1402 for miles. I was there 3 years. Not a premium place to work. The president has no clue how this industry works, and it is reflected in how he runs the company.

If you want to drive a 62 mph truck (on the rare occasion that you are driving) and be micromanged to death, give it a shot. I wouldn't.:biggrin_2554:

    1) Ditto: 2300 miles per week IS NOT decent.

2)As far as hazmat, you'll probably want to go to your state's DMV site. They can probably tell you more.
It's a bit of a hassle and really the money i spent to keep mine HAS NOT been earned back as i've only hauled one hazmat load since 06. i spent over $80 dollars getting it.

i guess it might be too much to ask anyone from Shaffer/Crete to?:

1)List their exact mileage traveled per week?

    2) List their exact paid mileage per week?

    3) list their exact pickup and delivery times.

i continue to thank truckerlew for his info and i may re-subscribe to truckertom's podcast for more info.

You should look into evertruckers "Crete a year in review" in the favorite trucking companies.I think you will find it very informative.
