So if that goes through we will essentially have a 17 hour day, just what the super-truckers and megas want. No incentive to pay detention, that "free" three hours will be added into a normal work day. Hooray for us, we got "flexibility".

Yeah!!! Finally a 17 hour workday.
14 hours is for lazy people!!!!
    .
Plus more split breaking. 10 hours off is way too long. I want to split my breaks so I can drive and drive and drive and make tons more money.
    .
Oh darn, that pesky 70 hour rule will mean I really can’t drive more and make more money, I’ll just have a longer workday and lots of shorter breaks. And I can take a 3 hour break and leave the truckstop and go deliver and come right back to a 15 dollar Reserved Spot to take my 7 hour break.

If people are getting loaded and empty hours later the demand for parking will incentive the truckstop operators to make parking $20, $25, $30 ... there is no limit once they get started. How the hell do they justify $15 for a shower, but people pay it. Some of us can still remember getting hotels for $6-8 a night and even less sometimes. Truckstop's motto should be "If you charge it, they will pay it"

I stand against this rule change idea. It will confuse unnecessarily those who run for Flipflop Express.

All that needs to do is go back to 1962 HOS and leave it alone.

Heard this on the Dave Nemo show this morning. I personally like the up to 3 hour pause. I wish the 30 minute break was outright eliminated but this is at least better.

Works for me. Watch the various PATT, Railroad, and other "safety" interests line up against a potential 17 hour workday. Oh the humanity.
    Let the lawsuits begin.

Some of us aren’t that old.
What were the rules like back in your time?

I can answer this one because I am that old. You could drive 10 and only had to stop for 8. You could split your sleeper just about any way you wanted. Also there was no 14 hour rule. And no 30 min rule.
