I would rather have LESS drive time. For the macroeconomic reasons not for my own personal reasons. I hit critical mass years ago so I really don’t need a job for $$$. These drivers that want to be able to drive more NEED the $$$ and need the job. It’s amazing how your life changes for the better when you no longer NEED the job or the MONEY. An addict will always have millions of reasons to justify there addiction.

Some did because they never stopped. Remember there were no electronic logs either. I never had more than two. :)

Then by all means make a comment when this is posted to the Federal register expressing your dislike of the proposed changes. I personally like the idea of being able to pause my 14 hour break so I can take a nap or wait out a traffic jam so it does not as likely effect how much I can drive on a given day. I agree that I would love to get paid hourly for all my on duty time but I don't see that happening any time soon.

I guess my point is it's simple supply and demand. If hours are more scarce, eventually companies will have to pay more to attract drivers.

If you just roll on your back and present your belly to the companies, you overload them a supply of hours, and there's no reason for them to increase compensation because you're just going to sit there for three hours and wait so you have hours to play Billy Bigrigger.

Because if the wheels ain't turning...

year 1994 - drive for 10 get in the sleeper for 8 repeat; (or sleep longer then repeat) then
find a parking space easily because naturally people will drive when they are awake and sleep when they are tired at all hours of the day or night. Start your day with a 15 minute "on duty" for your pre-trip. Clear headed easy to follow instructions.

year 2019 - confusing rules on when to be sleepy and when to be awake, filthy highways littered with Pee bottles cuz we cant stop, no parking cuz the government says were all tired at the same exact time, and When do we take our lunch break again???

Satire is fun, but really drivers should respond to the proposal. Only 5200 responses before this proposal were called in. We should have 520,000 responses on this most recent proposal. We have 45 days to make our suggestions known.

Our response should be like this: (or some variation:)

Keep ELD's, just go to the 10hr driving and 8hr sleeper rule, leaving the decision to the driver on when to use those hrs in the 24hr period.

Kept you from having to stop for 8. And if you were good you could do it with only 2 books.

Boy this thread suddenly spiraled out of control.
HOS and pay are totally disconnected from each other.

Pretty scary that people are excited and happy that now they can work 17 hours as if 14 wasn't already way to long...

Wait for it, someone will say "But that's trucking"
