if the doc asks if you snore always say no. a yes is a red flag.

I snore but sleep good,(according to wife). have had sinus problems since my early teens. many broken noses later it's better, but still snore some. lol

I think it depends more on the doctor giving the physical than anything else, some are just pricks. You should be able to find one and get your permit without it, but when you sign on with a carrier, many require you to take new one one with their doctor of choice, so you never know.

Stay away from places like Concentra as they are known for requiring sleep studies. I don't know if anything will show up in your area but you can try to search for a reviewed Doctor on the OOIDA site.

If you have a choice of doc's or clinic's call ahead and find out if they are affiliated with a sleep study center. You can bet your sweet bippy that the ones that are affiliated with a sleep center will send you for a sleep study....

With a high MBI and big neck I think they will ask for sleep apnea test. It was a big thing couple years ago. Seem like they backed down on it some but not sure how much.. some trucking company test themselves, they have mobile tester you wear. It's not like the full sleep lab

Where, EXACTLY, in the "DOT regulations" did you find this piece of malarkey?

I just have a very increasing powerful emotion to the Companies that send you to their doc.

The #### thing is lawful being 3 months to two years, whichever it is.

That has to stop. At middle 50's explaining a history going back years is something I work on every day.

Steel Netting panel equipped garden wagons are extremely useful. Spouse sticks a seat in the middle so she can put away a day's worth of gardening and not feel bad. As far as I am concerned, It also carries a great deal of gardening stuff. Since I directly benefit by not buying what we raise at home at the store it is a benefit to me as well.

Some doctors presume sleep apnea if you have certain measurements, others you have to have some of those measurements plus a history of snoring, high BP, etc to be told to do a sleep study. Doctors are different and their own authority.

Some trucking companies require you go to their doctor for your initial hire DOT exam. Some companies just want you to bring a valid DOT exam card with at least a certain amount of time remaining on it. You need for a recent new hire at the school?company to tell you how it works at THAT company.

You need to know the type of doctor, and his pattern, BEFORE you walk into the office. If you see a doc and he puts sleep apnea/sleep study in your file you will need to comply with that requirement and/or disclose that info if you go to another doc.

    Know Before You Go

I was pretty obese like I can have my own moons orbit around me and cause a solar eclipse if stood in front of the sun fat two years ago. My DOT medical is done in VA and I was about 367 pounds when I did my medical and I passed pretty easily. Now that I just renewed it, I'm down to 280 but still got a ways to go since I'm only 5'10. You should be fine for the most part depending on what you'll be hauling and what the demands of the company you'll be working for want from you. I haul gravel, so working in the hot sun made me sweat a lot when I was going my during trip inspections after being loaded and through hitting the local gym a few days of the week, I have lost a good amount of weight so far.
