I live in OKC I have a class B but want an A and don't have the 6 grand in cash to pay for the local cdl schools here. I've got a mortgage and a family with children to support. I look at the mega carriers and I just can't afford to not work a month then make 300 to $500 a week for a couple months following that. I'm hoping someone here is in OKC and knows or works for someone willing to help me get my class A I'm not afraid to work I just can't work for less than minimum wage for 3+ months. All the class B work here is seasonal or just flat out lousy pay or they run equipment that should be out of service. I've done some job hoping in the last year and a half because of employers flat out refusing to fix air leaks smoking exhaust leaks broken leaf springs flat tires. I have a spotless record because I opted to go home rather than drive their illegal equipment but this has nearly sucked my savings dry.
Does anyone know a sponsored cdl program other than the mainstream carriers

Texas_hwy_287 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Danny Herman Trucking is now sponsoring a CDL school where they pay for it. I do not know the details of it. You would need to call them. They have a FB page. Call their recruiting team and ask.
FlaSwampRat and Chinatown Thank this. -
A guy I know had a class b and was working for a small food service company here, they helped him get his class A . Just something to think about, that could work out without a loss of income.

Beer, soda, and food service are all good spots to get paid to get a license.

Gravel trucks are too if they run both 10 wheelers and bellys, side or end dumps. even if they just have a tag equipment trailer to pull behind a dump.

I studied took the written test. (45 bucks) Passed. I was driving farm truck (farm exempt no CDL) asked boss( who had CDL) to drive the truck to tester. Paid 150 bucks to tester took driving test and passed. That was a year ago. Less than 200 bucks........drove for a year locally with CDL and years without on the farm. Now I'm running PNW! CDL schools? 4k to 6k? That's crazy!.........or was I crazy for giving up local
