Hello all, I'm now a solo driver. My 6 weeks went by fast, btw they are talking about makeing the new drivers go 8 weeks with the Mentors now. Also they are now takeing everyone not just students. Let's keep the info flowing here. There has been just a little Swift bashing in here, however this is NOT the forum for it, you new drivers and ones looking for more input please ask, I have seen a lot of good info being past here, and I'm glad that is one reason I started the topic. To the ones that have been helping with info great job and thank you, like I said befor I'm doing this from the road on my phone so it is hard to post a lot.
jtswife826 and BulletTooth Thank this. -
Actually, the size of the classes have been greatly reduced. They use to run 40-50 and are now running 20-30. This is due to the fact there just isn't the turnover there use to be.
When freight was down and the labor pool inlarged both Schneider and Swift made decisions regarding "experienced" and "student" drivers. Schneider decided to close it's schools (some of them are now reopening) and Swift decided to continue it's own training.
Swift isn't the only company to choose students over "experienced".jtswife826 Thanks this. -

I am finally headed to school on Monday June 29th in Lewiston ID. After a month and a half of delays, it is finally happening this time. I too will try and share my training experience on this forum because I know how helpful it was for me to read DarkHelmet's experiences here.DarkHelmet Thanks this. -
But this policy probably has more to do with the trouble that Swift got into over the Millington license fiasco. The school that Swift contracted to was not doing everything correctly and a lot of drivers that held their CDL from Millington found out that they held an invalid CDL. Many of those drivers had been driving for 2.5 to 3 years when they received notification from the DMV that they needed to re-test and get a new CDL. -

I love my blackberry for the on route checks on this website. It keeps me up to date. Congrats on going solo. The time deffinetly does go by fast. What terminal are you out of?

Are you using just the Blackberry, or do you have it "tethered" to a laptop?
I have a real hard time using the Blackberry to visit forums and large websites. With my Sprint unlimited package, I can hook it up to my laptop and surf the web at blazing fast speeds!
