Who chains the equipment down? Or opens the doors.BigBob410, Crusader66, Lostkeys and 8 others Thank this. -
Who adjusts the brakes like I did today? Who puts out a fire if the brakes overheat and start burning up the rear pup like happened to my dad in the early 90’s? Who chokes the air to the intake when the turbo seals blow and it starts smoking out the entire highway? Who wedges the pigtail when it looses contact so the lights will work again?
Who tells it that it lost a hub assembly three miles ago that crossed a median and hit a motorcycle? Who puts the triangles out 200 feet to warn traffic when it loses power at the ecm fuse and you have absolutely no lights or power at all? Who unplugs the speed sensor when it derates crossing the Ponchatrain and won’t go 5 mph? Who bypasses the Oil pressure sensor shutting down motor? Oil pressure switch and coolant sensor likewise?
These guys at Starsky Robotics and TuSimple have almost no actual trucking experience. You, me and most people on this thread have dealt with countless dangerous situations through experience. I see stuff everyday that an autonomous truck will never be able to handle correctly. They are playing a dangerous game.
And if they think that any emergency issues on the highway will be handled by a Trooper or deputy, they should consider that most of them are on call after midnight and usually no less than an hour away in the bed. Roadside service usually takes several hours too? For being so smart, they sure are stupid.Crusader66, SL3406, Lostkeys and 16 others Thank this. -
You really think a truck "smart" enough to drive to the delivery all by itself can't automate simple doors, chains? What chains in a box?
Stevewore out, BigBob410, Crusader66 and 10 others Thank this.
