Actually kind of puzzled. Your info says you're from Nevada, which is already a very dry place.

Anyway, Air conditioning systems will remove some moisture from the air. The simple physics of condensation kinda doesn't give any other option for that. Many car climate systems will automatically turn on the air conditioner when you turn on the window defroster for this reason. The A?C will help to dry the air a bit and then the heater coils will warm it up and both together are more effective at keeping a car window defrosted.

An evaporative-cooler (aka. Swamp Cooler) kinda works in the reverse fashion and does add mositure to the air. The dryer the air is to begin with, the more cooling an evaporative-cooler can produce. Living in an arid place, I know several folks who only run an evaporative-cooler in the early summer months and do not turn on their A/C systems till the hardcore summer days arrive.

Anyway, I'd think there are several gadgets to help add some humidity back into your air. But, I am not really sure if any have been adapted to 12VDC. As for household stuff, I'd suggest a regular humidifier. You can get a cheap one for less than $20 and nicer ones for around $50. Look in the baby section, as humidifiers are mostly bought and used in connection with babies (to my knowledge). I've had the cheap ones and the more expensive ones. Don't know if I've ever noticed any difference in their effectiveness. Of course the previous suggestion of just draping a damp towel across a vent isn't a bad suggstion either. They make humidifiers for other things such as cigar humidifiers and even humidifiers for pianos. I have no experience with any of these or other gadgets to add some humidity back into your air. I kinda don't think they would work to well on a truck cab.

Good Luck and let us know what and how it ends up working out for you. I think others might benefit from what you figure out.

PS. I recently moved back to AZ from Florida. I got 20+ years living in the arid heat here in SW AZ.

Yeah, I should probably explain more now that I'm awake and at home.

I've lived in dry climates my entire life, never had an issue with them. There's something decidedly weird about this sleeper and I've tried everything I can think of. Humidifer, washing my bedding (with the same detergent I use to wash my home bedding, where I have no issues), new filter, opening windows, using saline nasal spray, taking allergy meds, etc.. In fact, last night, I shut the truck off, windows open with a breeze and still woke up with a really painful (when berathing) dry sinus, nose, throat. I put Vaseline in my nose too. I'm actually not even sure if this is a humidity issue after that experiment seeing no luck with the AC off completely, but it did seem better one of the days when it was raining outside so idk.

My schedule is two home daily runs, then two layover runs. For the layover runs, both to the same place, I end up sleeping somewhere along the I-40 in Arizona during the peak of the day. I've tried down in the long stretch leading to the NM border along with up in the mountains in Flagstaff, Williams, etc.. all the same result. This started just as the summer heat really started to kick in, I've been driving for 2 years with no issues although this is my first time solo during a summer. It's actually like torture, if I fall asleep I wake up after 30 mins or so from the pain. The weirdest thing of all, I have absolutely no issues while driving in the same weather. I have no issues at home. The moment I leave the sleeper, all symptoms are gone, regardless of outside weather. My first thought was the sleeper filter, but that wasn't it. Then I was thinking an allergic reaction to something. Eventually settled on humidity, which has never been an issue and still isn't outside of the sleeper lol.

It's bizarre and makes me feel crazy. I'm really not sure what else to try, although I'm gonna bring 2 brand new pillows for my next run. I've washed the pillow cases, but maybe there's somehow something on the pillows themselves below the cases. I don't know anymore... For the record, I'm reasonably fit, healthy, no sleep apnea and almost never had an allergic reaction to anything except when living in Texas for a couple yrs.

Keeping the AC temp higher helps with the dry air. If you're idling all night with the AC running, keep the temp set as high as you can and still sleep comfortably like 78 or even 80.

Are you sure its not from something like an exhaust leak? Exhaust gases from engines tend to mess with my sinuses a lot.

Maybe an exhaust leak. Could try one of those for home units and put in sleep and see if it goes off when sleeping.

is the cab a/c on recirculate??

if so, switch it and bring in fresh air to change out the air in the cab.

They are effective in very low humidity locations, which means they are useless in about 75% of the country.
