You are sucking air in fuel. Bad pick up tube, loose fitting or hose or your Davco filter isn't sealing up. This is why you are loosing fuel system prime.

Oxbow, Cam Roberts and AModelCat Thank this.

Hook air up to fuel tank. No more than 1 psi. The leak will be found immediately. Follow the drip or stream of fuel and you will find the source

Yes mine use to be like that until fuel pump went out. Changed that and now n the fuel is leaking backwards thru primary back to tanks. Lines was old suspected leak so changed out the hole suction side. All new lines and fittings. And changed the long return hose that runs with it but didn't change two short ones that goes to each tank on the return side. Ran better for a moment. But still getting air in fuel. Going go over everything again. Might try replacing primer pump.

The T block where the two tank hoses go in and one goes out to pump has a back flow stopper in it.
Old lines suck flat under pressure and starve motor for fuel .
