10-4 driver. They always get pulled over all the time. I pass them and give them the double horn salute lol. Yea I’ve been running the 285 Loop for the last few years now and I’m tired of it. So running I-10 will be a nice change for now.

@Kstrong86 your not lying about most of the drivers at averitt are up in age. even when I used to work for them most of the drivers that been there for a long time will say averitt is a lax company that doesnt run you super hard just enough. I figure is a perk to attract older folks to fill their seats.

I left averitt because dispatch was messing with my money and I just decided to leave in good terms. I was doing city P&D for averitt but during the interview dispatch never disclosed about having two types of runs which is regular city P&D and LC (Load Custom).
When I transfer from regional averitt to local averitt I didnt have any experience on the LTL side, dispatch started me as a LC driver which basically you go to customer A get the 53ft loaded all the way and deliver to customer B. Easy work really but it only pays 21.50 an hour.
As the time continued I was getting my experience and I started doing regular city P&D along with LC runs, my raises kicked in at that point I was at $24.25 but very often I will be assigned to an LC run which would only pays $21.50 I would take about 3 hours with customer come back to the yard and be given a city run which would put me back at my regular rate. In other words out my 11 hours 3 of those hours were paid at $21.50 and the rest of my hours at $24.25.
I was already at averitt for almost 3 years counting my regional time to local. I didnt wanted to leave and start all over again but I didnt like how they were messing with my money so I left averitt in good terms to Old Dominion. Management was very salty due to me putting my two weeks and offered me one more dollar to stay I kindly declined.
Overall averitt is a decent place to work at, then again everyone experiences are very different. One thing to mention is I really did learned how to back up in tight spots thanks to averitt since pretty much all they have is 53ft with twin screws.Last edited: Aug 18, 2019
