Most of what your seeing right now is panic and miss management.
With everyone on elogs. Companies can't just say "Slam the door and go" anymore. It takes a little more planning on the way out in order to be able to come back in without losing money.
Unfortunately, they're grabbing freight at well below what this market should bear in the hope they can stay ahead of the tsunamis.
This industry needs some attrition to weed out the guys who carved the rates to nothing over the last 10 years.
Most companies were started by truck drivers and those drivers pushed and ran the hell out of their employees to make money. Now though you've got to actually know what everything costs simply because you can't make it up anymore by pushing drivers to subsidise the mistakes.
I'm looking forward to see who goes teets up in the next couple of years.
Recession?

Recession? Alberta's been in the crapper since 2014. It never really recovered from the oil prices tanking.
Canadianhauler21 and BigHossVolvo Thank this. -
That’s the problem, Alberta/Canada has never recovered from 2014. Everyone has been trying like hell to make it work, on razor thin margins, inflated prices for everything, massive government interference and a Canadian peso. So it’s no wonder the first dip is taking out so many people/companies.upnorthwpg and Canadianhauler21 Thank this.

Fake news.
Yes, the economy is gonna slow down or has been already. But the last recession in 2008, the housing took the biggest hit. I was hauling mostly lumber back then and it was high. This time around, lumber is cheap in case you haven’t noticed. In short, this some what of a recession is just gonna slow down the economy a bit but not completely like the last one. I was prepared last time and prepared now. Gotta have those rainy days back up funds.Canadianhauler21 Thanks this. -
