Wireman, are you employed by YRC? I always like to read factual information from people who know their facts. Can you tell us where you've gotten your information? Or are you repeating rumor?
It's true that they are struggling as are many many companies in this industry. Hopefully for the thousands of people employeed by YRC and their holdings they can manage to stay afloat. I wish good luck to anyone and their families who are affected by the problems YRC is going through.

They can delete it! It's not considered hateful only truthful. You must be a YRC employee and still believe there is life out there.

I was employed by USF Holland who is under YRC. I was out of one of the terminals that was forced to be closed because we had a New Penn terminal near by. To take companies that were making money and suck them dry is the Yellow way. YRC takes away 10% of the employees earnings and says they need to do this to stay competitive with the non-union companies and now they comeback and want 14 months of non-payment into the pension fund. You can give back all you want. History repeats itself time and time again. How many union companies have survived after giving back. As far as repeating rumor. No, I am speaking the truth. Are you a YRC employee? If you are then you know the details and I don't have to go further into it and have you realize that the ship is sinking. I have friends and family that work for YRC currently so I don't want to see anybody lose their job. What needs to happen is they need to change out the crap that is running these outfits. They keep asking and the union keeps giving them whatever they want. I was offered a job at New Penn and declined and now work for a NON-UNION company making better pay per mile with no give backs due to the economy. As far as getting factual information alot of it is common knowledge. Plus it does help when you get it right from the source from the people that sit in on the meetings..........

wireman I am deeply sorry for what YRC has done to Holland but, that still does not excuse the fact of you hijacking this thread and turning into something it was not intended for. A driver came on here asking a simple question and you simply turned it into an anti-YRC thread for no good reason. To answer your question Yes I am a YRC driver formerly with Big R. and I do believe both the co. and my union is doing everything it can to make it through this terrible recession this GREAT country is going through right now. Do I think we will survive ? I don't know only time will tell but I am willing to do what I can in my power to help not only save the jobs of tens of thousands of employees at this co. but to also help to protect and preserve the standard of living and wages for all truck drivers in this country. Let us not forget that it is the union drivers that set the standards, case in point YRC employees take a 10% pay cut and every other LTL outfit jumped on the bandwagon with paycuts and eliminating health ins. and 401k's. I will admit to you I am only 33 years old and I believe I will live long enough to see another labor movement amongst truck drivers in this country. Good luck to you Brother in your new adventure I wish you and your family all the best.

Another guy writes that the YRC guys aren't special anymore and I hijacked the thread?...LOL. You are right that the company and union are doing everything possible to survive. But put some thought into this, YRC logistics= non-union. How many of them guys do you see running around including the owner operators. The union has to help keep them afloat. Do you think ABF wants to pay for all the pensions that aren't their employees? Why do you think UPS pulled out of the major pension fund? So they don't have to help with the up keep of the fund. Is it fair that YRC can get out of paying for the fund. Meanwhile ABF still has to pay into it. Also I didn't turn it into a Anti YRC thread. I am just posting facts that are true. Not opinions. You wanna hear anti YRC propaganda talk to New Penn, USF and other YRC employees and see who talks positive about getting 10% of their pay taken away and no payment into their pension fund. The union and their contracts don't mean squat. When the time came to vote for the 10% I voted NO. Everybody knew that if they got it they would keep coming for more and that's what they are doing. Let me ask you some questions. You say you are a former driver for Roadway. Did you quit? Or did you get bumped out with the merger? If you got bumped out what is YOUR union doing for you?

Who preached union loyalty? I use to hear it all the time, the bashing of union and non-union. I don't care if you are union or non. Doesn't make me any better or worse then you.

wireman I think you should change your screen name to Tammy, that is the name of my wife and you remind me alot of her. Even after I apologize to her and tell her she is right she still continues to argue with me. When the merger took place on March 1 the co. eliminated the entire l/h operation at the terminal I was working at and my union contract afforded me the right to transfer to another gaining terminal. I chose to transfer as opposed to taking a permanent layoff. Believe it or not I am happy with my decision to relocate my family because I chose a part of the country that I think is very nice and we have enjoyed so far. Of course if you contact me sometime this winter I will probably sing a different song. LOL! What are you doing now for work? I know you claim you are making better money with the shiny wheel outfit and I hope you are?

I just work for a small family owned company with about 100 drivers doing LTL and Truckload freight. Started off at .51cpm getting paid for every p/u and delivery and downtime. Running to Chicago then down to Florida. Plus don't have to put up with the 63mph junk anymore. I don't have the premium benefits I used to have but they are pretty decent and not high priced. But the way YRC is going you might not have the good benefits either. This company is real busy and the docks are loaded down with freight just like the trailers. There is your typical retoric with the guys that have been there for years and think everybody owes them something. Overall it's a good company with the usual BS and dispatchers that don't know what they are doing but it's a job for now until I seek other endeavors.......
