2008 was not a mere recession - it was a global financial crisis in which most large banks would have gone bankrupt if not for massive injections of liquidity.

GM also went under during that time if I remember correctly, surviving only because of capital injections.

 

All pretty much caused by the same cause. Most banks would not have gone under, in fact they pretty much picked and chose which ones to save and who to screw.

 

I've read at least 10 books and hundreds of articles on the subject and I can tell you that it was a financial sector collapse and if not for the capital injections the large banks could not have survived and many, many banks did in fact go under or were acquired by larger institutions. These injections of capital were for the purpose of averting a global financial collapse.

The thing most folks forget is all that capital injection into the banks and GM were repaid with interest.

 

I remember Effingham completely bare. Petro empty both of them, state line and effingham. McLean too. empty empty and empty.

That was the one season where we were put to work running useful military cargo to the ports pending war with Dear Leader before he had a fatal heart attack. No time to be parked and doing whatever. What a season that was. Logbooks? Eh... one could argue that under DOD services your logbook is a liability. But I dont know nothing. I see nothing especially in empty truckstops and I don't learn nothing.

Chalk that up to the episode of Samson and Sons always having chest pains when there is work to do.
