You have any conflict with anyone recently? Would the third party have a reason to create a situation for you to lose your job over a bogus call.

I should think 5 years into the future coffee would be a 10K fine for occupying a hand.

 

If you did not have your phone in your hand,then it's your word against theirs. Stick to your answer, do not offer up any other explanation other than "no, I did not have my phone in my hand". Do not use 10 words, when 2 will do.

2) back in my days, if someone called in on me for whatever reason, the company DEMANDED the caller to fully ID themselves and provide contact information.

if none of that contact information panned out..??

the "tattle tale" was dismissed.

many times, back in those days, mad wives or ticked off girlfriends would call a company and said a driver did them wrong, on the road.....too many drivers got canned, for word of mouth crap..

that's when nearly all companies went to the full verification mode.

just ask your company if the caller gave out a full ID as to who they were....if not, then tell them, it might have been a girl friend you got pregnant and are running away from....

otherwise, all that laughing in the office, many would die of a heart attack.....
