My 2000 has a 2WS far as I know they’re the exact motor except for the gears in the front ,ones tapered ones not , i’ve had four 6NZ’s and as far as oil leaks I’ve never seen a difference they all get one every once in a while !!!

Sleeper looks good, Florida Truck, good deal. I liked the E, ofcourse that was in comparison to b and c. Good luck with it.

That 3406E is a good STRONG engine... With the right drive train behind it, that truck will climb a wall!!!

Looking forward to the trucks progress and seeing it back out there on the road. Any idea on what color/colors you want to paint it?

I'm not a cat guy, but I'd take that 2ws over a 6nz. Others will possibly disagree, but that's simply cause the 6nz was hyped up by everyone. I think the 2ws has a better rotating assembly. The helical gears are stronger than straight cut gears also, that's another reason I like a 2ws..

2ws is the better block for the dollars. I’d rather have a 2ws or 1lw just cause of the price difference between them and the 6nz. They are still heavier built blocks than the earlier e models and there’s nothing magical with the 6nz that prevents oil leaks compared to the other two. As for the gears. You can put straight gears or helical gears on a 5ek if you wanted. I’m running the acert water pump on a 2ws now with the later gears. Most of that stuff will bolt right up without problems. Good thing about cat is you can take the better parts over the years on the e models and C15 and put them all into one engine.
