Hello O/O's. Maybe yall can help me with a question. I'm about to finance a truck that is located in Georgia from Lone Mountain Leasing. First does anyone have any experience with driving a newly purchased truck from one state to another? And how does that work? What are the rules for driving a truck from one state to another after purchase?
Second, once in Texas, what steps do I take to register it here? It will be in my company name, I have my own authority but I will be leased to the same carrier that I currently work for as a company driver. Will I have to pay sales tax? Do sales taxes apply to leased vehicles?
Any insight from those wiser than me will be very appreciated.

Do not buy a truck from lone mountain.
casemill Thanks this. -
Temp tags and temp insurance will get you on the road legally. You are driving a dispatched CMV, so all weigh station and HOS rules are in force.

I know what's needed from previous posts, just not how to get the stuff needed.
My guess. The dealership is your best bet for these answers. After all they deal with it all day long.Last edited: Aug 24, 2019

First you need insurance before they even let you leave the dealer.
You can go to dmv and get a temporary trip permit if the dealer doesn’t give you one but they should.
You can register the truck under your company and just get a lease agreement between John dough transport and crackhead express LLC
Not hard your company should be able to help you.casemill Thanks this. -
Make sure you can get a temp tag from the dealer or georgia, unless it has changed Tx does not have a way to buy a truck out of state and legally get it there. I forget the details, but before they will sell you any kind of tag, it has to be weighed on a certified scales and go through a Tx certified inspection station.
I do not know the whole shebang, but knew a couple of guys that bought a truck and fonally sold it because of the crazy tx wante dthem to go about licensing it.
Check and see, but you should not have to pay sales tax, if you are buying irp plates for it.casemill and FlaSwampRat Thank this.
