Get a copy of Truck Paper and you will find all kinds of ads for companies that offer leasing options. The ad by Arrow is also third party leasing. The idea is that the person you are leasing from isn't attached to the company you drive for. This is also how Dart does their leases. The disadvantage is that you are locked into the lease, whereas with a company lease you can walk away. The advantage is that if for some reason you need to change companies you keep the truck. You also have more choice in trucks and can often get a better deal.

Dan found me a condo... If I can ever get back to Marshfield.

No matter how I do the math with the price of used trucks right now it is a no brainer. I got the results back from Roehl and they want $430 a week and a $12000 buyout at the end of 41 months. I will be paying mearly $80,000 for a 2006 midroof Volvo with 310,000 miles. Also you must pay $10,000 into a maintenance escrow account at .06 a mile. You must also pay a mandatory $1000 escrow at 75.00 a week and 4 weeks of truck lease paymentsat 75.00 a week also.I have done alot of research and found that I get get a 2006 Volvo Condo cab for $37,555 to $42,000. That is a monthly payment of roughly $1000 a month for 48 months. That is about $1000 per month less than Roehls being that thier is a weekly payment. I am also getting a Condo cab from Arrow and the miles are similar. Also there is no buyout at the end. If I bring my own truck the only escrow Roehl will require is the $1000 mandatory. This seems like the only way to go. I can't see spending roughly $32,000 more for a lesser truck. Thats $32000 that will be in my pocket that wouldn't be if I leased.

I wouldn't go owner-operator either, there, Etch. I recently spoke with an owner-operator who told me that with Roehl paying the certain things they do, it costs 76cpm to run his truck. He gets paid 98. Then he has to buy health insurance. If those numbers are right he's flirting with the poverty line.
-
Etch, dang, why didnt you do the company fleece? Man, I wanted to see you get to take home $50.00 a week. You just had to go and get all smart. Just think, if you dont like roehl now you can just take your own truck and tell them to shove it. Another perk, you will have so much more cash flow having your own truck, I mean, what are you thinking?
-
Yes, Roehl is no good for owner operators, lease drivers, and many company drivers. Its great if you live in Wisconsin and have been there 10 plus years. Also Etch, being an owner op, the whole "safey is our cornerstone value is gone completely. You will run like Joes midnight express. Happy Hauling
