I have a Cobra LX29 in my 2019 Volvo and an issue has come up with the antenna. I can now only hear traffic that is very close by and am getting an antenna warning on the radio when I key the mic. When I open the driver's side door it works better. I took off the mirror housing and everything seems connected. I've switched out the antenna and also the radio with a spare I had. I'm guessing the problem is somewhere between the antenna and the radio. Any suggestions besides driving with my door open?

Seems like the guys on this forum has talked about cb shops that work on truck antennas, but I’m not sure what the cb shops names were. I think Walcott’s cb was one of them. I assume the Volvo trucks are similar to the Cascadia and they have a lengthy thread on this forum that you can read that may help you.

    Try a braided ground strap..
Connect ine end of the strap on door side of hinge and other to cab side of hinge....
Do both doors, dont forget to clean threads and dont use any thread locker..

Should be a small braided strap attaching mirror arm and ant mount behind the plastic houseing..clean any corrision there to..

Sounds like the coax feedline has been pinched in the door and needs to be replaced.

The cpl volvos i had the coax was in pieces slowly goin fr ant to inside dash area....possible one of the connect points is loose or as above said not complete circut.....
Either way paco...Take some time and do it yourself....many shops will do a poor job and run it through the door jamb and you end up with same issue later..
You dont have to run it exactly the same way but do so that its not gonna get slammed on by the door or pinched by a hood or somethin..
