I just looked up the Ohio Tpk. toll rates,and I guess they don't weigh you anymore,did not know that,looks like just a size classification deal. Guess they got tired of getting schnockered by the steel haulers,lol.
If you got on back then with a class 5 ticket,with 113 gross,you were doing really well. I was class 4 empty with my step,class 5 empty with my rgn,no way to cheat. 80k was class 8. Pa numbers were a little different.

 

I like that drive from Lander to Farson.

 

I should have stopped in Farson for ice cream. I consider it a lost opportunity.

 

Not exactly, They still weight every axle, and have a 90k limit.
Trust me, I got a Uturned in broad day light getting on at US 77 couple months ago, embarrassing as heck. But yes the classes have all changed about 2012 I think.

 

Class 9 was 90k and under.

 

LMFAO that’s a good one I never thought of that. I thought I was a smarty pants outlaw for using someone else’s reweigh number at the Cat scales but I got nothin for the PA steel haulers

 

@DougA That was all Pops equipment. I did do some moon lighting for him on my days off from the shop. So the company he was leased to did not want me on as a driver because of my age. The operations Vp sat right there and told safety guy, "why not, Jimmys been driving the GD thing so make it legal". He was a pal that has since retired.

The ones I drove had a 150 gallon water tank with about a 4" fill hole and a flapper on the top. You filled the tank, went to the job site, pressurized it with a 1/4 turn valve and did your thing. If you dumped the air before you were done using the water, you may or may not get it to re-pressure. The water helped hold the flapper up and provided a seal while the tank was pressurizing.
It looked very similar to this one.
