Is it really that dangerous? I’m lucky I decided to go with what you guys said. Then the freon can also says to use the low side.

I’m starting to think the reason why Koon Trucking used 25.76 was to perhaps compensate for the freon left behind in the manifold hoses. I remember reading in a TK owner’s manual that the freon can be from 1.2 to 2 pounds, depending on the length of your A/C lines. I used somewhere between 23-25 ounces. I did not have an accurate scale. It was one of those food scales that lowers when you put some weight on it. Hahaha.

The cans you buy at the store are 12 oz. Two of them are good enough.

A scale is used when you are charging from a 30 lb tank, though that's kind of outdated. Modern AC machines will remove the old refrigerant, vacuum, collect any oil and reinject the same amount of fresh oil, then install a proper charge all automatically.

Next time I’ll buy two 12 oz cans so I won’t have to weigh anything. One of my cans had 20 ounces.

if everything works perfectly then it will blow Ambient temp-50 inside. I am in Phoenix right now. outside is 108F and tripac blows 66-68 F into cab.

I think mine got down to 60, but I’ll check again. My APU has never been a “super cooler,” though. I’ve driven some trucks where the APU was very cool. I think it has to do with how new the APU is and how well sealed the vents are. It may be time for me to recheck all the vents for proper sealing. Either that or I add 30 oz to the compressor. Hahaha. Jk.

If yours has one of the old copper tube evaporators, they aren't really very efficient. I don't know if TK makes an aluminum ribbon evaporator, but those are a lot better cooling.

I was always going to modify a Columbia evaporator to go in mine but then I bought a new truck. My old truck is parked.

Once I have added 30oz refrigerant into system. there was no performance improvement. Moreover when I started overcharged tripac in Las Vegas it started blowing black smoke from exhaust. The load was to much for tripac engine.
