Transtar is a no go......doghouse and a tiny bunk
The first red one I posted had a M11 and a 10 speed. I made a deal to buy it for $11k USD. I put a deposit on it on the condition that the seller find a 13 speed for it and install at his expense. He backed out and the deal fell through. -
This story has been looping on the tv news here in the ATL area. I think the straps are part of the recovery work. There's a Landall trailer in the foreground. From the looks of it, most or all the steel is already on the recovery trailer. I used to live and work down in that area once upon a time. That section of US-78 is miserable with traffic signals and congestion. Used to be 6 lanes with a reversible two center lanes. but I think they finally did away with the reversible deal since the average 4-wheel driver gets red X and green arrow mixed up. Because making all the lanes narrower with a change your mind lane down the middle is nothing like putting 10 lbs of poop in a 5 lb sack.
If I had to hazard a guess why he stabbed the brakes, he was probably already braking for one of the 1,000 red lights and a 4 wheeler cut him off. I been known to cut thru there when there's an extra large crap show on I-20 or 285 and had it happen to me enough times to know better. -

Dang that truck is new but with 3.91's and a 10 speed Spicer........ that would need to be replaced for my operation. I have an M11 with 4.33's and a 13 and it's still underpowered for the Appalachins. Nothing wrong with the M11, just not a big bore.

As sad as it is for the Drivers who got stranded and lost their jobs ( and the other employees too ) it's about time that the bottom feeders went under. Those companies like that and Falcon and the LTL outfits in the Northeast who have no competition for the cheap rates ( and who lately closed up ) are keeping the drivers who work there in bondage.
Of course they have no competition, they were going under for years and years. The very few people in charge were making a decent ( or good ? ) paycheck and that was the only important thing as far as they were concerned. Which leads to a bad situation for everyone else involved.
That Monte Walsh video clip applies to that place.
Years ago I loaded Mercedes Benz a few times up in Belcamp MD. The company that did the local delivery had been sold to Roger Penske awhile before that. Penske got lied to about the profitability of the outfit, it was losing money.
When the contract was up for renewal he didn't even submit a bid. It's got to be really bad to not even submit a bid that's high enough to reclaim your losses but that was what he did. Sometimes that's what it takes.
