I agree but, every vehicles speedometer has a degree of error......so....let's say your doing 55 MPH but your really doing 53. Another guy is doing 55 but he is really doing 56.5 MPH. There is a 3.5 MPH difference and you can sneak up on a guy pretty easily. It is the meat heads who race up behind you that get me.

I use GPS to find out my speedometer error. Currently I am off 1 MPH with my new tires.

Morning Nanny.....I had a jb hunt truck half in the hammer lane and half in my lane this morning and he was flying. It kind of makes me mad......I know you need to go faster down the small hills in order to make the next grade.... I am just going to stick to following rules while driving a schoolbus.

The only place I know of where it's expressly prohibited is on the German Autobahn. That particular Autobahn restriction is rescinded when heavy traffic causes the leftmost lanes to slow down and the right lane is moving faster.

Of course staying out of the left lane on the Autobahn is just common sense unless you want a high speed BMW or Mercedes up your rear end.:laughing7:

Speaking of school buses. Occasionally I get stuck behind one while on the way home from work in the morning who picks up a severely disabled kid in a wheelchair on my street. The kid has no way of operating the wheelchair himself and has to be pushed around either by a parent or an aide. Yet they operate the stoplights blocking traffic on my street. Once they were there for over 5 minutes waiting for the parents to get the kid out to the street. I think operating those lights under these circumstances is rather uneccesary given the fact that there's no way that kid is going to dart in front of traffic. Now I understand using them when picking up or dropping off able bodied children who could easily walk out in traffic, but not when you're picking up one kid in a wheelchair who can't operate it himself. Seems like overkill to me.

And don't get me started on the idiot crossing guards we have in this town who will walk right out in front of traffic moving 35-40 mph to put out their cones, well in advance of the school zone lights coming on. I nearly hit one doing that and he nearly caused a semi and two other cars to hit each other at the same time.

While driving my bus you would be surprised how many drivers run my red flashing 8 ways. I also follow a bus that hauls disabled children....same rules...and it is necessary for the traffic to stop in order for them to get their children off the bus...sometimes it takes a while. Think about how you would want others to react to your child getting off the bus.......

I would like them to stop obviously, however I don't think it's necessary to hold up traffic for 5 minutes or more to load ONE wheelchair bound child who would in no way be able to run in front of traffic under his own power, especially considering they're picking him up from the curb in front of his own house.

NOW I see who the troll is. Thanks KC. I just hope Mr. Silver doesn't have this mentality on the roads. It is people with this type of selfish mentality that are part of the problems on the road today. Most of the speed limits posted are just arbritrary numbers. It is common courtesy and sense to move right if traffic allows and someone behind you wants to go faster. It should be simple, shouldn't it?
